Domestic plastering for smooth, even walls across Erskine

99% domestic work. 25 years' experience. Free estimates arranged to suit you.

A better base for decorating your home

The right method first

We assess the background before choosing between repair, boarding or skimming.

Clean edges and corners

We form neat lines around openings so the finished decoration looks balanced.

Work areas protected

We cover retained surfaces and keep plaster where it belongs, not everywhere else.

Give tired walls a sound new surface

Marks, uneven patches and tired plaster soon show through fresh paint. Our domestic plastering creates a consistent base across walls, corners and adjoining surfaces, so your finished room looks properly put together. You may know the work as plastering, skimming or skim coating. The right method depends on what's already there. We inspect the existing plaster, check that the background is stable and decide how much preparation it needs. We can renew a localised surface, skim several walls or finish newly boarded areas. That means you get the work the surface requires, rather than an unsuitable coat applied over hidden defects.

Careful preparation before the first coat

Before plaster touches the wall, we protect retained floors, fittings and nearby surfaces. We then prepare the background, deal with loose areas and apply the coats suited to the job. Openings, corners and edges receive close attention because poor lines remain obvious after decorating. Once the plaster is finished, it needs time and ventilation to dry naturally before paint is applied. We'll explain what to expect and leave the work area tidy, with a smooth decorative base ready for the next stage of your room.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between plastering and skimming?

Plastering can describe the whole process, including base coats and repairs. Skimming means applying a thin finishing coat to a suitable surface. We'll inspect your walls and explain which method fits their condition.

How soon can newly skimmed walls be painted?

The plaster must dry fully before decoration. Drying time changes with coat thickness, room temperature and ventilation, so we'll give practical guidance after the work rather than promising one fixed period.

Do we need to clear the whole room first?

Clear furniture and belongings from the working area where possible. If something cannot be moved, discuss it with us before the job. We'll agree access and protect retained floors and fittings during the plastering.
