A flatter ceiling with cleaner edges
Background checked first
We decide between repair, skimming and boarding after inspecting the ceiling.
Room surfaces covered
We protect retained floors and fittings before overhead plastering begins.
Junctions kept neat
We work carefully around coving, lights, edges and adjoining walls.
Take uneven ceilings back to smooth
Ceiling cracks, old repairs and uneven textures catch the light and remain visible after painting. Our ceiling plastering creates a level base for a clean, modern finish. If the existing ceiling is sound, preparation and skimming may be enough. Local damage can sometimes be repaired first, while a weak or badly uneven background may need plasterboarding before the finish coat. We inspect the surface rather than assuming every ceiling needs the same treatment. Size, height and access all matter, as does the condition hidden behind an old coating or previous patch.

Protect the room during overhead work
Plastering above your head is not a job where gravity takes the day off. We protect the floor and retained fittings before preparing the surface. Light fittings, ceiling edges, coving and wall junctions are considered so the finished lines remain neat. We then apply and flatten the plaster in the correct sequence. Once complete, the room needs ventilation and the ceiling must dry before mist coating or painting. Many ceilings fit within our usual one-to-two-day workload, but we'll confirm the schedule from the actual condition and access.
Frequently asked questions
Can we skim over the existing ceiling?
We can skim it if the background is sound, stable and suitable after preparation. Loose material, movement or extensive damage may mean repairs or overboarding will give a more dependable finished surface.
Do light fittings need to be removed first?
That depends on the fitting and the work around it. We discuss access before starting so electrical items can be dealt with safely and the plaster can be finished neatly around the required opening.
When can a newly plastered ceiling be painted?
Wait until the plaster has dried throughout and changed to an even pale colour. Temperature, ventilation and plaster thickness affect this. We'll explain the drying stage before you begin mist coating.
